River

River let her dog run free
from the bay to where the island used to be
That dog was the only thing she called baby
Down a dirt road
She would follow
In a half remembered dream
Saying this is the one thing that can save me

They ran in between
Shadows of green
On gossamer wings
While the sun set bravely

River let her dog run free
From the bay to where the island used to be
She moved through the grass like she was praying
And the wind rose
In the hollow
And kissed her silently
Se said only the wind knows what I'm saying

They ran in between
Shadows of green
On gossamer wings
While the sun set bravely

River let her dog run free
From the bay to where the island used to be
That dog was the only thing she called baby
She said the cold goes
To my very soul
Deep beneath the skin
This is the one thing that can save me

They ran in between
Shadows of green
While the sun set bravely
