New Hotel

by Patty Larkin

In the New Hotel
By the highway
I watch the cars going

Hurry hurry up
Better step on it
Better hurry and get there

Just a year ago
Cows were standing here
Hanging out
Spinning long tails

Reminiscing on
Pastoral childhoods
Running o’er hill
And down dale

So I’ll go on my
Merry way and
I’ll Write it down
In some lost book

There’s this New Hotel
By the highway,
I hope they soon get a Starbucks

Back to Still Green
